Lady On A Dime: Quick Fitness Tips That Save You Time And Money

Don’t worry this isn’t another blog telling you how to “lose the stubborn belly fat” written by some wanna-be freak show celebrity trainer. In reality I am just your average 30-year-old fashion obsessed lady on a dime trying to stay in shape since nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. If you work out of an office like me you most likely sit for 6 hours and more, and have absolutely no energy left to fit in a workout. Let me introduce you to my favorite quick tips how to stay in shape, and not feel guilty.

EAT RIGHT

Start your day with a healthy breakfast, and don’t forget to pack some lunch. I usually toast up some nice whole grain German Bread (you can healthy loafs  from Whole Foods, Real Foods or Safeway),  and add a slice of Swiss Cheese, or cream cheese. You can tell a healthy loaf of bread by its weight. The heavier the loaf the more grains it has. Avoid tempting and costly lunch snacks by bringing in your own lunch which can be leftovers from last night’s dinner or a home-made sandwich.

WALK IT OUT

If you can, try to walk or bike to work. Carry your office heels in your bag, and walk your way through the city jungle on comfortable sneakers. Whenever I bike to work I bring a small make-up bag with me to touch up my hair and face before I officially set a foot into my office.

EXERCISE

Favor stairs instead of elevators anytime. Your Gluteus Maximus will love you for all the attention, and your heart too. In fact, whenever possible try to raise your heart rate as it will burn some extra calories. Want to earn some extra points with your co-workers? Offer to get them coffee (it’s on them of course) or run small errands since this will allow you to move around, and leave your office chair.

FIGHT YOUR APPETITE

Oh no! The hungry lion inside of you just roared, and you still have two more hours to go. My best advice: drink some hot tea. It really helps to calm your inner animal inside of you until it’s dinner time. Warm fluids tame your appetite, but don’t fill you up. Soup has the same effect, which explains why soup is often served as an appetizer.

PREPARE FOR DINNER

On your way home mentally prepare yourself for dinner so you won’t attack whatever is in front of you or inside your fridge. That way you don’t snack on fatty treats before your official meal begins, and spoil your appetite.

Have a happy day.
